About us
“Youths are not just the most productive elements of societies; they are the most vibrant, creative, adventurous, restive, rebellious, forces for social changes, growth and, sustainable development”.
The Youth Bureau, TYB is a broad based platform for the organization, aggregation, and positioning of the youth as vital factor in the social re-engineering of our society for the attainment of collective socio-economic, political and cultural, developmental goals. “The Youth Bureau”, TYB, is strategically established to elicit a structural means to orientate, rehabilitate, co-opt, integrate and, mentor the youth into the orbit of social governance.
TYB is to serve as a civic resource engine for the social mobilization of the vast potentials of youths in State’s policy formulation as well as its execution. It is not a mere watchdog, but for constructive engagements in the political leadership processes.
- Vision
• Civic Engagements:- The Youth Bureau shall deploy all the capacities of youths as social mobilization agents for good governance, respect for law and order, preservation, promotion and protection of societies’ value-chains, and patriotic endeavours.
• Political Education and Awareness:- The Bureau shall design a political, philosophical, ideological praxis for the youth. This would be guided by the truism that, “Knowledge is power, but superior knowledge is superior power”. Most crisis in societies feed fat on ignorance, a well-informed citizens may be difficult to rule but, always easy to govern. The educational and awareness program of the bureau shall be tailored towards establishing channels for free, flow, cross fertilization of ideas to move the society forward.
• Leadership, Entrepreneurial and Skills Up-scaling:- The Bureau shall elicits a process for direct, constant upgrading of the leadership, entrepreneurial skill-sets of the youth to meet the needs of society. It must be emphasised mentoring the youth on the imperatives of peaceful and stable polity is critical to bottle the potentially, disruptive energies of youths for productive purposes.
• Youth Mobilization As Cultural Vehicles for Development:- The Bureau shall undertake the organisation of youth platforms for socio-cultural activities, sports, recreation, religious and cultural festivals, tolerance and cohesion, neighbourhoods and community defence, support base for vulnerable members of society as well as for the holistic protection of the environment.
• Establishment of Youth Data Bank:- The Bureau shall serve as resource data bank for the compilation of basic statistics, regular updating of statistics on the youth, assessment of social needs for policy interventions. Conduct thorough research and documentation on existing youth organizations, governmental policies, and global prerequisites for social inclusion of youth in governance and management of society.
• Social Partnerships:- TYB shall engage State, Non-State Actors, Non-Government Organizations and Global Institutions in developing the capacity of youth’s collectives to undertake crucial socio-engineering tasks for sustainable development and growth.
- Mission
The Youth Bureau is an ubitiqous with operational interventions in matters relating to the affairs of youths in our society. The Bureau shall bring all the youth organizations in the State under its operational purview, direction and guardianship. Its pre-occupational mandates include:-
i. Youth’s Constructive engagements in socio-economic, cultural and political leadership processes.
ii.Interventions to enhance youth’s skills-sect for gainful employment
iii. Social Mobilization Of Youth For Affirmative Actions
iv. Organization And Promotion Of Support For Youth’s Agricultural Initiatives For Food Security
v. Empowerment Of Artisan Youth And In Small And Medium-scale Businesses
vi. Youth Leadership In Peoples’ Ownership Of The Processes For The Security Of Lives And Properties In Our Communities
vii. Facilitation Of Micro-credit Empowerment Schemes For Youths
